ADDRESS of the Rector of the University of Digital Economics and Agrotechnologies, Doctor of Economics, Professor Rustam Ramzovich Abduraupov

We live in an era of rapid development, in which human capital, information resources and knowledge rank first among the most valuable assets of both public and private institutions. In this context, Uzbekistan is carrying out large-scale, in-depth reforms across all spheres of social life, with particular focus on the fundamental renewal of the education system, including higher education.

In recent years, the labour market has seen significant shifts in demand across many professions, driven by accelerating globalisation, the advance of information technology and ongoing integration processes. At the same time, new opportunities have opened up for young people choosing a future career or changing their current one. Today, students decide which university to apply to consciously and deliberately, with a view to building a stable long-term future. Employers increasingly place a candidate’s capacity for independent learning and self-development above the formal question of whether they hold a degree. Even so, universities remain a space that gives young people wide scope to realise their potential and opens the door to new knowledge and to the wider world.

Taking all of this into account, and guided by the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN General Assembly, we resolved to establish the University of Digital Economics and Agrotechnologies — an institution capable of becoming a leader among the higher education institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

By 2030, we envision the University as one of Central Asia’s leading centres of knowledge in digital economics and agrotechnologies: delivering high-quality education, conducting research and driving the transfer of innovation in close partnership with stakeholders within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Across every programme offered at our University, students build and develop competencies that are in demand not only in Uzbekistan but around the world. Because we chart the course to a bright future!
