From 16 to 19 June, UDEA is participating in the fourth Global Sustainable Development Congress, organised by Times Higher Education with the support of the Turkish Council of Higher Education and Asia-Pacific co-host PolyU (ualberta.ca). This is one of the largest international platforms for universities, governments, businesses, and NGOs — bringing together over 5,000 participants from around the world.
Key Goals and Thematic Tracks
The Congress is focused on advancing the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and features six main thematic tracks:
The event also includes the launch of THE Impact Rankings 2025, which evaluates universities based on their real-world contributions to the SDGs.
Why is UDEA’s participation so important?
1. Strengthening international positioning
UDEA is not just observing — we are actively contributing to global academic and research collaborations, presenting our internationalisation strategy and focus on digital and green innovation.
2. Global partnerships
We are building dialogue with leading universities from Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and participating in partnership sessions with business schools, while learning from global organisations such as UNESCO and EURAS.
3. Impact on institutional strategy
Our participation enables UDEA to embed SDG-aligned KPIs into academic planning — guided by best practices and data insights from THE Impact Rankings (elsevier.com).
4. Empowering our students and faculty
Our delegates are involved in masterclasses and DataLabs, exchanging expertise and accessing global insights — all of which strengthen our campus capacity for sustainable development.

Bahrom Badalov:
“UDEA’s presence at events like these is more than just status — it’s strategy. We aim to turn international networks and SDG initiatives into real programmes, research and career opportunities for our students.”
UDEA is taking a confident step towards global recognition. Through our participation in GSDC, we:
lay the groundwork for international accreditation (THE, AMBA, QAA),
build academic alliances in Europe, Asia and the USA,
reinforce our strengths in digital and green technology,
integrate sustainability into our institutional development strategy.
